20 years of Making a Difference

Twenty years in one workplace is more than a milestone. It’s thousands of shifts, countless conversations, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, two decades of making a difference in people’s lives.

We’re delighted to celebrate an incredible 20 years with Crosslinks for Peter, one of our Community Inclusion Support Workers.

Since joining Crosslinks in 2006, Peter has seen plenty of change, but one thing has stayed the same: the importance of genuine connection, trusted support and creating opportunities for people with disability to enjoy a full and fun life.

For Peter, that starts with listening.

“Communication and understanding are important. Really listening empowers participants to make decisions for themselves. It’s the secret to making an ordinary day more fun.”

And while every day can look different, Peter’s reason for doing what he does has remained constant.

“This job gives me purpose. In challenging moments, it’s my why.”

One of Peter’s proudest experiences has been seeing participants grow in confidence and embrace new opportunities.

“I had a participant who previously wouldn’t take part in activities, and now they look forward to going out and getting into the community.”

From go-karting to beach days, Peter has shared plenty of adventures and laughs with the people he supports. For him, making a day meaningful can be as simple—and as important—as listening to what someone wants and helping make it happen.

That same philosophy extends to his team. For Peter, being stronger together means “working towards the same goal—to include people in the community.”
