Community Access Support Services: Creating More Connection

Feeling connected – to people, places and everyday experiences – matters to all of us. But for many people with disability, getting out into the community isn’t always straightforward.

That’s where the right support can make all the difference.

Through the NDIS, many participants have funding for community inclusion services, designed to support people to get involved in everyday life, try new things and build confidence along the way.

With Crosslinks, it’s about creating meaningful experiences that support long-term goals, independence and genuine connection.

How Community Access Supports NDIS Goals

Every NDIS plan is built around individual goals – whether that’s building social skills, increasing independence or simply feeling more connected to the world around you.

Community access plays a big role in bringing those goals to life. Community access and participation is typically funded under the Capacity Building – Increased Social and Community Participation budget.

While activity costs (like tickets or meals) aren’t covered, the support required to attend – such as a support worker or transport – often is.

With the right support in place, participants can:

  • Build confidence in new environments
  • Strengthen communication and social skills
  • Create routines and independence
  • Experience more fun, choice and connection

What Our Social Club Can Offer

At Crosslinks, our RAP social club is all about creating a space where people feel welcome, supported and excited to be involved. It’s not just about activities – it’s about building confidence, friendships and a real sense of community.

Here’s what that can look like:

1. A Place to Belong and Build Friendships

Our social club brings people together in a relaxed, supportive environment where connections happen naturally.

Whether it’s shared laughs over a group activity or getting to know familiar faces each week, participants start to feel part of something.

2. Fun, Structured Activities (Without the Pressure)

We plan a mix of activities that are engaging, flexible and tailored to different interests—think games, creative sessions, outings and themed events.

There’s no pressure to “get it right.” Participants can join in at their own pace, try new things and simply enjoy the moment. It’s about fun first—with plenty of support along the way.

3. Building Confidence in Social Settings

For many participants, social situations can feel unpredictable or overwhelming.

Our social club provides a safe and familiar space to practice communication, build confidence and develop social skills – with support workers who understand how to guide and encourage without pushing too hard.

4. Consistent Routine Families Can Rely On

We know how important routine is – not just for participants, but for families too.

Having a regular social club to look forward to each week creates structure, stability and something positive in the calendar. For parents and carers, it also means a chance to rest, reset or focus on other parts of life, knowing their loved one is supported and having a good time.

5. A Stepping Stone to Greater Independence

Our social club isn’t just about today – it’s about what comes next.

By building confidence, routines and social skills, participants are better prepared for other opportunities – whether that’s more independent community access, employment pathways or exploring supported independent living in Perth down the track.

It’s a gentle, supported way to grow independence while staying connected to a trusted community.

At Crosslinks, we focus on creating experiences that are:

  • Personal and tailored
  • Safe and supportive
  • Full of connection and fun

Because when the right support is in place, people don’t just participate – they thrive.

Through our disability support services in Perth, we work closely with participants, families and support coordinators to create opportunities that feel right for each individual.
