New Program of Supports – More than Art
For many people, making new friends isn’t always easy and finding a place where you feel welcome, understood and supported can make all the difference.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce our new Centre-Based Program of Support at Crosslinks.
Beginning this September, we’re launching a 12-week Christmas-themed art program that brings people together to create, connect and have fun. While the artwork is sure to be a highlight, the real magic happens through the friendships, confidence and social skills that will grow along the way.
The program of supports has been designed to create opportunities for participants to spend regular time with the same group of people in a relaxed, supportive environment. Participants will have the chance to get to know one another while working on fun, hands-on art projects.
Whether someone is naturally outgoing or a little shy, the group setting provides gentle opportunities to:
- Practise communication skills.
- Build confidence interacting with others.
- Work alongside their peers.
- Develop lasting friendships.
- Feel part of a welcoming community.
Working Towards Individual NDIS Goals
Many participants have goals around increasing social and community participation, building confidence or developing everyday communication skills.
Our centre based Program of Support has been designed with these goals in mind.
With a supportive 1:3 staff-to-participant ratio, everyone receives the encouragement they need while still enjoying the benefits of learning and socialising in a group.
Participants won’t just be making Christmas decorations and creative projects, they’ll also be practising important life skills that can support greater independence and community participation.
Creativity Makes Socialising Easier
Arts and crafts are a wonderful way to bring people together in a safe, inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to participate at their own pace.
Having a shared activity helps take the pressure off conversation and creates natural opportunities to chat, help each other and celebrate achievements together.
There’s no pressure to be “good at art” because it’s about enjoying the experience, trying something new and having fun.
Is This Program Right for You?
This program may be a great fit for participants who:
- Enjoy arts and crafts or would like to explore their creative side.
- Want to build social skills in a supportive environment.
- Are looking to make new friends.
- Have goals around increasing community participation and confidence.
- Would enjoy spending time with a welcoming group.
