Supporting Families Through Change

When you’re caring for a loved one with disability, change is often part of everyday life.

From school transitions to NDIS reviews, changing support needs, medical appointments and preparations for what the future might look like. It can be a lot.

At Crosslinks, we know that while disability support services are important, sometimes what you need most is someone who simply understands.

That’s exactly why Carers Connect exists.

Change Doesn’t Mean You’re Alone

No two families have the same journey, but they may have similar experiences.

Talking with another parent or carer who “gets it” can make all the difference.

Sometimes it’s practical advice about navigating the NDIS. Other times it’s sharing ideas that have worked for your family. And often, it’s simply having a conversation over a cuppa where you don’t need to explain everything from the beginning.

Those moments of connection remind us that we’re not carrying the weight alone.

A Community Built On Shared Experiences

Carers Connect is an informal group of parents and carers who have lived experience supporting a family member with disability.

Many members have been part of the Crosslinks community for years and generously share their knowledge, encouragement and understanding with others. Whether someone is new to the NDIS or has been caring for decades, everyone is welcomed with warmth and respect.

There are two regular opportunities to join the group, creating a relaxed space to chat, ask questions, share experiences and build genuine friendships.

There’s no pressure to have all the answers.

More Than a Support Group

While Carers Connect provides valuable peer support, it also helps shape the future of Crosslinks.

Throughout the year, members share feedback on our services, policies and the experiences of families using disability supports. Their insights help us continue improving the way we deliver our disability support services in Perth, ensuring the voices of participants and their families remain at the centre of everything we do.

It’s one of the many ways Crosslinks works alongside families—not just as a service provider, but as a trusted partner that listens, learns and grows together with our community.

Join the Conversation

Whether your family member already receives support from Crosslinks or you’re simply exploring your options, Carers Connect is open to parents and carers looking for connection, encouragement and understanding.

Because while caring for someone you love is incredibly rewarding, it’s not something anyone should have to do alone.

If you’d like to learn more about Carers Connect or come along to a meeting, we’d love to hear from you.
