Crosslinks Brings the Fun to HBF Run for a Reason

Last Sunday, May 25, something exciting happened in the heart of Perth. Amid grey skies, pouring rain and puddles the size of paddling pools, over 40 Crosslinks staff and participants laced up their shoes (and tightened their capes!) to take part in the 2025 HBF Run for a Reason.

Now, this wasn’t your average Sunday stroll. The 3km walk from the city centre to Gloucester Park was soaked from start to finish – but the weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. In true Crosslinks style, we turned the storm into a celebration.

Participants, families, support workers and friends joined forces, many bedazzling their super hero capes to show off their inner strength and sparkle. We weren’t just walking – we were dancing, splashing, and smiling every soggy step of the way.

It’s moments like these that truly highlight the heart of our disability support services in Perth – it’s not just about support, it’s about shared joy, belonging, and showing up for each other, rain or shine.

One of the most incredible parts of the day? The overwhelming sense of community. The kind of connection you can’t fake – where everyone feels part of something bigger.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters, Crosslinks raised $1,213 for our programs and activities. That’s going straight back into creating exceptional experiences for the people we support – from sensory play to social outings and everything in between.

And we’ve got to shout out two local legends:

  • Karina, who raised a whopping $349 on her own – talk about superpowers!
  • Glenda, who gathered an impressive collection of games, puzzles and sensory items from her workplace – ensuring the fun continues long after the finish line.

As we pack away our rain-soaked shoes, one thing’s for sure – we can’t wait to do it all again next year (preferably with a bit more sunshine!).

Whether you joined us this time or cheered from the sidelines, thank you for being part of the Crosslinks community. Together, we’re turning every moment – even a rainy one – into something truly memorable.
