Big news for Crosslinks

Crosslinks has been awarded over $3.8 million in funding from Lotterywest to support the fit-out of the Crosslinks Community Hub in Midland. The grant was formally presented on Thursday 5 February 2026 by Mr Steve Catania MLA, representing the Hon Hannah Beazley MLA.

This funding brings us one big step closer to opening the doors to a place designed for connection, inclusion and community – and we couldn’t be more excited.

Why This Hub Matters

“We know isolation is a massive issue, especially for people with disability,” says Crosslinks CEO Dawn McAleenan.
“Finding welcoming spaces, meaningful activities and genuine connection isn’t always easy. This Hub is about changing that. It’s about giving people more ways to connect, belong, and be supported.”

The Community Hub is our way of responding to what our local community has told us they need – a safe, inclusive place where people can come together, learn new skills, try new things and just enjoy being part of something.

Built With the Community in Mind

Located in a former gymnasium on Great Eastern Highway, the Hub will be completely transformed into a flexible, accessible and welcoming space. And it hasn’t been designed behind closed doors.

The layout and features are shaped by extensive consultation with people with disability, families, local service providers and community stakeholders, making sure that these spaces are being designed by the people who’ll actually use them.

What You’ll Find Inside

So, what’s planned?

“We’re creating flexible spaces for workshops, training sessions and events,” Dawn explains.
“That includes multiple sensory rooms and a fully equipped kitchen that can be used for everything from cooking classes to casual get-togethers.”

The Hub will support:

  • Community inclusion services and group programs
  • Workshops, training and skill-building
  • Inclusive events and social catch-ups
  • Shared use with other community organisations

It’s going to be a place not just for everyday moments, but for learning, laughter and connection.

A Big Thank You

Projects like this don’t happen alone. We proudly acknowledge Lotterywest as our major supporter of the Community Hub, along with the generous contribution of the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation.

We also thank the City of Swan and the Relocation Sub Committee for their guidance and support throughout the planning stages.

More Than Just a Building

“We’re beyond excited to see this project finally coming to life,” says Dawn.
“The Hub will be so much more than a building. It’ll be a place where people feel safe, supported and part of something bigger.”

With construction now underway, the Crosslinks Community Hub is expected to be completed in mid-2027, and we can’t wait to welcome the community in.
