Michelle and Clinton – Love and laughter

This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating love and the small moments that make it real.

For Michelle and her boyfriend Clinton, who have been together for three years, when we asked them what their favourite thing about each other was, the answer was simple – “falling in love together”.

Michelle is a housemate in our Supported Independent Living program in Perth. She shares her home with two other women, sharing a courtyard with three other ladies next door that’s often filled with BBQs, dance parties, birthdays and Christmas celebrations.

It’s a home built on connection, community and shared experiences, a place where relationships are welcomed and supported.

Behind the scenes, our team works closely with Clinton’s support crew to coordinate the days he’s available, making sure everything runs smoothly and the focus stays on the couple enjoying their time together. For example, every Monday, Michelle and Clinton go to the gym together. It’s a regular routine they both enjoy, an important part of staying connected and reaching their shared goals of staying fit and healthy together.

Michelle and Clinton love celebrating all occasions. With their birthdays just two days apart, Michelle and Clinton plan a joint birthday celebration each year at Michelle’s house. They’re actively involved in deciding what they’d like to do and share their plans with staff ahead of time to make the day unforgettable.

This Valentine’s Day, they’ve chosen a classic date: a trip to the movies, with all of the usual treats.

Stories like Michelle and Clinton’s remind us that supported independent living in Perth is about more than housing. It’s about choice, connection and being supported to live a full life – including friendships and romantic relationships.

If you’re looking for a SIL home that supports friendships, relationships and real connection, we’d love to chat.
