Planning for the Future

Safe and secure future planning forum for carers

Planning for your child’s future can feel like one of those things you know matters… but it’s hard to know where to start.

It’s not about having everything perfectly organised. It’s about feeling reassured that, step by step, you’re putting the right supports in place for the life you want for them.

Many carers carry big questions quietly for years:

  • Where will my child live long term?
  • Will they have the right support and community around them?
  • How do I leave money or assets without affecting their NDIS supports?
  • Who will advocate for them if I can’t?

These questions can feel overwhelming but with the right guidance, they can become empowering.

It’s normal to avoid future planning because it feels confronting. But carers often find that starting the conversation doesn’t make things heavier… it actually brings a sense of relief.

Instead of uncertainty, families start to gain:

  • A clear blueprint of their wishes
  • Greater control and certainty
  • Protection for benefits and supports
  • Reduced stress for siblings and extended family
  • Assurance that vulnerability is recognised and safeguarded

Perhaps most importantly, it provides peace of mind. Knowing that your child’s future has structure, care, and protection behind it allows you to be more present today.

That’s exactly why we’re hosting the Safe & Secure Future Planning Forum. Designed specifically for carers of people with disability, the forum will be delivered by Future Living Trust, a WA not-for-profit with over 35 years’ experience, alongside experienced lawyers and financial planners, the forum brings together practical advice with real-life understanding.

Join us Wednesday 17 June, 9.30am – 12.30pm

During the forum, families gain practical insight into

  • Wills and how to structure them for your child’s needs
  • Trusts and how they can protect assets
  • Superannuation considerations
  • Safeguarding your child’s long-term supports

Everything is explained in a way that actually makes sense, so you walk away understanding not just what to do, but why it matters.

Planning isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about ensuring that, when the time comes, your loved one is supported, your intentions are understood, and your family can focus on being together without confusion or unnecessary stress.

At Crosslinks, we see how powerful that can be every day through our disability support Perth services and community inclusion services – when people have the right structure in place, they’re able to build connection, confidence and joy in their everyday lives.

If you’ve been putting these conversations off, this workshop offers a safe, supportive place to begin. Planning is important at any stage of life. Life can change suddenly, and without a plan, even small decisions can become stressful for the people left to navigate them. When your wishes are clear and the right structures are in place, you give your family clarity, protection and peace of mind.
